Jeffrey Hart was a speech illustrator for Ronald President both as governor of Calif. and as President. He was a speechwriter for Richard Nixon. He’s cursive academic books and articles on the underpinnings of the true standpat movement. He was a grownup editor of The National Review for nearly 40 years. He is a true conservative.
Yet he has endorsed Barack Obama, first in February at The Daily Dish by saint Sullivan. Why did he do it? It’s prizewinning to let him explain himself. Here are a pair excerpts from The Daily Beast the source where I found it today.
Republican President George W. Dubya has not been a standpat at all, either in domestic contract or in foreign policy. He invaded Iraq on the foundation of abstract theory, the very thing [Edmond] solon warned against. [Edmond Burke wrote a seminal impact on conservativism titled “Reflections on the Revolution in France” in 1790. He also supported the dweller Revolution as a member of Parliament.] <>
Obama did understand. In his today famous 2002 speech, while he was still a state senator in Illinois, he said: “I know that a successful war against Iraq will order a US activity of undetermined length, of undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a country explanation and without international support will fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, kinda than the best, impulses of the Semite world, and strengthen the achievement limb of al Qaeda. I’m not anti to every wars. I’m anti to dumb wars.”
Burke would have united entirely, and admired the rigour of so few words. And digit thing I know is that both President and President would have agreed. Both were prudential and successful conservatives. But every the meat of the standpat movement followed Dubya over the cliff—as did John McCain.”
The equilibrise of the article deals with Social Security, which he considers a successful program, and more. Here still added true standpat jumping board from John McCain. This digit has the academic credentials to backwards up his disagreements. H/T to The Daily Beast.
